1. The purpose that Hawthorne wrote the story was that he wanted to tell us how easy it is we could lose ourselves and the ones we love and trust because you have other important stuff to do.

2. Yes I do agree because the name and word faith could mean different things and how people see it. Yes it fits her personality because Faith is like you can always count on. Yes he does because in the story he tells her that he's going away and doesn't want her to come that way she doesn't get hurt or have anything happening to her.

3. The pink ribbons signify love and trust.

4. Everything that Brown witnessed was a figment of evil because he was forced to leave his faith behind and go into the deep forest and never coming back.

5. I think that the old man is his father because back when his father was young and had a wife I guess that he to was supposed to leave his wife behind and go into the deep forest alone and a figure appeared out of nowhere and he was taken by the devil and was told that his son would do the same thing as his father, go deeper into the forest and never be seen or heard from again.

6. The staff represents the figment of evil, the staff leads Brown's to his conscience of his mind because he just wants to find out what is happening to him and why.

7. If Brown had not ventured into the forest his life would be different because he would actually be with his faith. Brown would still have his faith because both of them would live a life were neither one would leave each other. Yes because Brown loves his wife more than life itself and trusts his wife because Faith and Brown love each other and his fellow townspeople.
